About Rhea

Welcome, and thank you for visiting. My hope is that this website will give you a better understanding of how I work and what services I provide. I invite you to call me at 512-569-0506 or email me at rhea@pledgertherapy.com if you have any questions or if you are considering therapy with me.

With over 15 years of experience, I provide individual, relationship, and group therapy.  While building up my practice, I provided therapy at various settings, such as Waterloo Counseling Center, the University of Texas Counseling and Mental Health Center, and Austin Recovery Center. I have been in private practice since 2009.

Having a passion for group therapy, I study modern group leadership at the Center for Group Studies in New York City. In addition, I am actively involved and regularly attend trainings with the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) and the Austin Group Psychotherapy Society (AGPS.)  I am a Certified Group Psychotherapist, identifying myself as an expert in group psychotherapy.

In addition to my work as a therapist, I have taken on leadership roles in the community.  I served as co-chair of one of their largest Special Interest Groups within AGPA for clinicians who specialize in LGBTQ work, plus I was Treasurer for AGPS. I currently serve on the board of the Group Foundation for Advancing Mental Health, the fundraising arm for AGPA.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I majored in Finance at Texas Tech University, served as a Community Development Volunteer in the Peace Corps, became fluent in the language of Cape Verdean Creole, and volunteered at McLean Psychiatric Hospital outside of Boston.
